You Only Thought it Was Thanksgiving

I was googling for a blog post about crazy Thanksgiving meals or the worst Thanksgiving fails, and I came across this article taken from Woman’s Day from about 10 years ago.  Its disgusting to say the least and the photos will go from left to right per paragraph.  Enjoy please.  Most people only enjoy one Thanksgiving feast each year. But those of you who simply can’t get enough may want to try one of the unique eats below. From pumpkin fortune cookies to turkey gravy and cranberry cupcakes, here are eight unusual items that capture the essence of the Thanksgiving table.

Tofurky & Gravy Soda

If you’re a big soda drinker who loves Thanksgiving dinner, then your wildest dreams have come true. Jones Soda Co., which is famous for its limited-edition holiday concoctions, rolled out Tofurky & Gravy Soda this season. Based on the vegetarian Thanksgiving meal, the Tofurky flavor is vegan-friendly and sugar-free. (This isn’t the first time Jones has embraced Turkey Day flavors. In 2004, the company offered a five-pack of sodas that included the following flavors: Green Bean Casserole, Mashed Potato & Butter, Fruitcake, Cranberry and last—but certainly not least—Turkey & Gravy.)

Turkey Dinner Layer Cake

Foodie and contributor Amy Wisniewski created the ultimate one-stop Thanksgiving meal. What looks like a cake is actually alternating layers of stuffing and ground turkey mixed with instant oatmeal, “frosted” with mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes, and topped with lightly browned mini marshmallows. Sure, it may seem appealing at first glance, but we think we’ll stick with compartmentalizing our food. Photo courtesy of

Pumpkin Pie Pop-Tarts

Now here’s something we can sink our teeth into! Kellogg’s Pop-Tarts has released its latest limited-edition flavor: Frosted Pumpkin Pie, available through mid-December. The baked breakfast pastry is filled with a sweet mixture of pumpkin pie, nutmeg, cinnamon and clove, and finished with iced frosting and autumn-colored sprinkles. Photo courtesy of Pop-Tarts

Pumpkin Pie Fortune Cookies

If you’re feeling lucky this Thanksgiving, try these pumpkin pie–flavored fortune cookies from Fancy Fortune Cookies. Made with real pumpkin, ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg, the cookies come covered in dark, milk or white chocolate and contain one of five custom fortune cookie messages inside. Not only do they sound delicious, but they make the perfect gift for guests or your Thanksgiving host! Photo courtesy of

Turkey Gravy Cranberry Cupcake

If you enjoy savory-sweet combinations, this cupcake is for you! Made by Los Angeles–based Yummy Cupcakes, the treat features a turkey-flavored cake that’s baked with savory turkey gravy, filled with cranberry relish and topped with cranberry cream cheese. The boutique bakery didn’t stop there—it also dreamt up three other unique Thanksgiving flavors: Marshmallow Yam, Apple Pie and Pumpkin Pie. Photo courtesy of Yummy Cupcakes

Lay’s Turkey Potato Chips

And we thought Lay’s Dill Pickle chips were unusual. This savory chip is only available in China, which is too bad, because according to a contributor at “They really do taste like turkey with gravy…It’s like combining the best parts of Thanksgiving dinner, all in one bag.”

Roasted Turkey Doritos

What’s better than roasted turkey? Roasted turkey-flavor Doritos. What’s better than roasted turkey-flavor Doritos? Roasted turkey–flavor Doritos in the shape of a Christmas tree, of course! Though these festive snacks aren’t available in the U.S., you can easily find them in Taiwan. Photo courtesy of Scott Kleinberg/RedEye

Mashed Potatoes and Gravy Jelly Beans

For a quick taste of Thanksgiving dinner, give these little jelly beans a whirl. Part of the unusual Harry Potter Bertie Bott’s Jelly Beans Bag, the Mashed Potatoes and Gravy beans are just two unusual flavors in a mix that includes everything from ketchup to sausage. Although weirdly tasty on their own, the potatoes and gravy combined will give you the full holiday effect.

What’s Next, Pumpkin Spice Toilet Paper???

So I knew I would get your attention with the title of this blog. Being the first day of autumn, I am reminded of pumpkin spice which I make fun of during this time of year. I will admit and am a sucker for The Donut Stop, Pumpkin Spice donut, I just wish they would call it what it is and that’s a pumpkin cake donut! I guess they can sell tons of them with that other name. The picture on this post is the latest in items with the scent or flavor of pumpkin spice.

1-I don’t want my dog to smell like a pie.

2-I don’t even like hommus much less trying to fool people into eating it because it taste like pie.

3- Pringles are a bad substitute for a potato chip anyway, but to make them taste like pumpkin is absurd!

4-Now I love fried chicken and although there is better chicken than KFC, I’m won’t be turning it down if someone offers it to me. Unless its this crispy crunchy pumpkin and feta chicken twister. UH NO!

5-One statement from me, DON”T MESS WITH MY TWINKIES!!!!

6-Almonds that are pumpkin spice, umm I don’t know.

7-If your wife or girlfriend love pumpkin spice and being the man and you have a beard, do not let her make you wear pumpkin spice bread oil.

*- Oh yeah, pumpkin spice deodorant and toothpaste is out too!

Summer. Will it linger for a while or fade away?

This morning I was somewhat surprised to see the school zone flashing on the way to work.  I knew school was starting up again, but it took me by surprise.  I guess since our children are grown it’s not that ingrained in my head.    The reason I am bringing this up, is for these kids, summer is over.  When I was a kid summer lasted from the middle of May to the end of August, not anymore.  I love summertime, its my favorite time of year.  But this year has been brutal, with the three-digit temperatures and hardly any rain.  My lawn looked great in late May and mid-June, now it’s a dried and cracked wasteland!   And being in the heating and air business we have heard all the stories ,and we have been in 150-degree attics doing what we do to fix our wonderful customers , and we have heard all the horror stories of our customers trying to withstand the hot temperatures with no air in their home.   We feel for you and we try our best to get you scheduled so we can make you more comfortable.   We have worked long hot days, and by the end of the day we get to go home and get cool with our own HVAC.  In a way I am waving this summer so long, but I guarantee you, that first icy frigid air I feel from Canada I’ll be wanting summer back.  So, the guys here at the shop were talking along with Adam about how much time we have left before we gear up for cooler climates.  Most of us agreed that we will have a Indian Summer, and maybe by Thanksgiving we can have cooler weather.  Until then make the best of anytime you have off, even if its inside.  And remember, Adam’s Air will be with you in all kinds of weather, all you must do Is give us a call.

Frozen Coil is Telling You Trouble is Ahead!

Has your air conditioner during these hot few weeks seem to not keep up with keeping the house cool?  If its not, there could be some problems that can turn into larger expensive problems.  Your inside coil that is attached to the HVAC could be frozen.  If you look at the attached picture, we pulled this coil out because it had frozen up so many times, that it needed to be replaced.  There are a few things that the homeowner can and should do that could save you money.

  • Change air filters- This is the number one culprit that will block airflow during summer and winter.  When the filter is full it blocks air flow and makes your system work harder to supply fresh clean air.  Dirty filters mean added stress on your compressor and other components.  A new compressor runs from $1000- up and over to $1800., installed. Change your filter every three months and in peak times of summer and winter change it out once a month.
  • Low Refrigerant Levels- Your system could be leaking refrigerant. Low levels of refrigerant can make the evaporator coil too cold and it could freeze up.
  • Insufficient Fan Speed- The fan inside your home must blow fast enough to keep proper amount of air blowing over the coil.  A technician can increase the fan speed and most likely do away with freezing coil.
  • Thermostat Problems- The AC could run all night when it doesn’t need to do so.  This wastes energy and money and can freeze the air conditioner.   Have a technician check the thermostat for wiring issues or replace it with a energy or Wi-Fi model.
  • Drainage Problems- You have a drain pan under your unit which keeps the excess water coming off the coil.  When summer is here and your AC is working overtime, the water can sometimes back up because a drain might be plugged up.  A technician can come out and unplug the drain.  If this doesn’t happen the pan can leak over and the water ends up on your ceiling and eventually leak through to your house.  The water can also start freezing from pan and go all the way back to your coil.

A couple of items you can do in your home and then call Adams Air and have us go over everything in the HVAC system.
